Growing Together | An Exhibition from Wabash Center & Purdue CREATE

July 18, 2025 - August 2, 2025

Eggleston Gallery

Growing Together is an art exhibition celebrating the creativity, agency, and expressive voices of artists with disabilities served through Wabash Center’s adult day services program. Intentionally presented in July, during Disability Pride Month, the exhibition recognizes and celebrates the artwork, experiences, and interests of people with disabilities in our community. This exhibition highlights the transformative power of access to artmaking, accessible art tools, and inclusive and supportive creative spaces for all artists.

Growing Together was co-curated by Sedigheh Fathollahzadeh, Dr. Jasmine Begeske (CREATE, Purdue), and Grace Jackson (Wabash Center), whose shared commitment to accessibility, community engagement, and inclusion shaped the exhibition. The artwork in this exhibition was created through painting, mixed media, and adaptive techniques. The theme—gardening—serves as a metaphor for artistic and personal growth. Just as gardens require care and intention, so too does creative development. This artistic garden was nurtured in an inclusive and accessible studio space at Wabash Center. The artworks reflect diverse interpretations of growth, nature, and renewal, offering vibrant affirmations of connection and belonging.

In the spirit of Disability Pride Month, which coincides with the anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in 1990, this exhibition is more than a display of talent and creativity—it is a collective statement of pride, possibility, and the vital importance of honoring diverse ways of making and being. It reminds us that when we cultivate inclusive spaces, we all grow—together.
