Paint, Carve, Sip: Create a Mishima-Style Tumbler
Design a tumbler that’s uniquely yours! In this hands-on workshop, you’ll explore a layered decorating technique using colorful underglazes and the Mishima-style inlay method. Each participant will receive a handmade, pre-thrown tumbler crafted by the instructor—so you can focus purely on creativity! First, you’ll paint a vibrant base layer onto your tumbler using underglazes. Then, you’ll carve intricate designs through the color, filling them with contrasting underglaze for a striking effect. This fun and approachable technique allows you to create bold, high-contrast patterns with depth and personality—perfect for both beginners and experienced artists!

Start with a pre-thrown tumbler—no wheel work required!
Paint a colorful base layer using underglazes
Carve your design into the surface
