When: Saturday, July 25 | 1:00–4:00 PM ‍ ‍

Where: Join us at the Greater Lafayette Museum of Art in The Shook Gallery for a unique afternoon that combines creativity, connection, tea, and edible artistry.

Cost: Museum Members: $54 | Non-Members: $60

The Blending & Buttercream Social is a collaborative experience led by tea educator Thometra Foster, founder of TéAqua Custom Blended Teas, and by local baker Muna Oto, Snickle Snacks Sweets and Treats. Together, they invite guests to slow down, explore their creativity, and enjoy an engaging hands-on workshop inspired by art, flavor, and community.

What To Expect

During the first portion of the event, guests will join Thometra Foster, founder of Te'Aqua Custom Blended Teas, tea educator, and Lafayette Bicentennial Brand Ambassador, for a guided tea blending experience. Known throughout the community as Lady TéAqua, she has spent years sharing her passion for tea through educational classes, tastings, and specialty workshops. Her Bicentennial-inspired tea collection celebrated both General Lafayette and the history of the city through thoughtfully crafted custom blends. Guests will create their own loose-leaf tea blend while discovering the traditions, flavors, and creativity behind tea blending.

Guests will then transition into a buttercream painting experience led by Muna Oto, owner of Snickle Snacks Sweets and Treats, a registered Indiana Home-Based Vendor, and a Lafayette Bicentennial Brand Ambassador whose Lafayette Gingerbread recipe draws inspiration from a historic gingerbread associated with the Marquis de Lafayette's visit to America. Using soft pastel buttercream palettes, palette knives, and beginner-friendly techniques, participants will transform a personal-sized cake into an edible work of art. No prior artistic or cake decorating experience is necessary. The class is designed to be approachable, relaxing, and enjoyable for all skill levels.

Inspired by the spirit of artistic expression, guests will learn simple techniques that encourage creativity while creating a cake that is uniquely their own.

All supplies are included for both portions of the workshop, including tea blending materials, decorating tools, buttercream palettes, and a pre-prepared personal cake. Guests will leave with a custom blended tea, their decorated cake creation, and the confidence to continue exploring creativity in new ways.

Whether you come with a friend, family member, or simply on your own, The Blending & Buttercream Social offers an opportunity to create, connect, and enjoy a memorable afternoon surrounded by art and community.

Space is limited. Advance registration is required.

If the member option is sold out and you have an active membership, we will refund the difference if a non-member is purchased instead. Email visit@artlafayette.org
