“Composition with Slope”

“Someone said: "The brain is a pattern-seeking device." We cannot help ourselves, but we try to make sense of new and unfamiliar objects we are presented with by comparing them to the familiar. My work is abstract but also largely organic in form. Each piece is a puzzle of interlocking shapes, edges, planes, textures, and colors. In this case, I leaned on some overlayed geometry and rectangular shapes among the more geologic and growth-related forms. There is no one way to interpret the result. "Composition with Slope" is the physical manifestation of one creative dance in time. Your personal reactions to it are an extension of that creative act.” —Robert Pulley, Artist
