Remodeling to increase the administrative area on the second floor will begin Sept. 8 at the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette, according to a release from the organization. After the construction is complete, the gift shop will also refocus to sell only items by artists who are directly involved with the museum, including faculty, advanced students and those whose work is in an exhibit or the permanent collection. Other artists will be invited to sell their work during seasonal promotions at Christmas, executive director Kendall Smith said.
The remodeling is funded by a $62,000 grant from North Central Health Services Inc. that came through Tippecanoe Arts Federation.
During construction, the galleries and gift shop will be closed from Sept. 9 to 24, but classrooms and meeting spaces will be open. Three new exhibits will be on display beginning Sept. 25.
