Donated by John and Eva Chistodoulakis

Lot #75 Cruse Wine Co, 2015 Monkey Jack Red Wine Blend This wine is a prime example of how a new generation of California winemakers are innovating and making some delicious juice along the way. Michael himself says the wine is “hard to describe” but his intention was to create a bottle to place on your table nightly. It’s bright, lifted, and buoyant, with a little cherry popsicle and minerality mixed in. Just a touch of grippiness extends the finish, but you’ll probably have already moved on to the next glassDonated by Cellar 422

Lot #76 Veuve Clicquot LaGrande Dame 2006 Brut Champagne, France There's plenty of finesse in this sleek Champagne, along with an airy texture and loads of grip. Graphite, lemon, toast and mineral aromas and flavors prevail, and this takes on a chalky edge on the lingering aftertaste. Best from 2010 through 2028 ... Wine Spectator. Donated by Jim and Lisa Schrader

Thanks to Steve and Terri Reed who donated outstanding wines from their private cellar, we have divided their fine wine contributions into 5 lots:

Lot #77 Karl Lawrence Cabernet Sauvignon Vintages (Napa Valley)
About Karl Lawrence Cellars:  Two very close friends with a common dream of producing a fine wine founded Karl Lawrence Cellars in 1991.  Their venture together produced a unique and outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon wine from the Napa Valley. No longer in operation, these fine wines are no longer produced.

2007 The unique blending of wines from three different Napa Valley Vineyards elevates and defines the style of Karl Lawrence Cabernet Sauvignon and makes it among the top Cabs for complexity and length.  An insider’s wineDrink now or cellar for 10 years.

2008 Loaded with black currant, fig and dark chocolate aromas that follow to the weight palate, coating the tongue with intense flavor.  The acid and tannins are in perfect harmony on this luscious wine, which is drinking well already and will just continue to improve with age.  Donated by Steve and Terri Reed.

2009 Menthol on the nose -- almost like wintergreen. On the palate, currant, blackberry, and notes of cocoa and something savory on the medium finish, with light tannins and good acidity. This is well balanced and tasty, but can go for several years yet.  Donated by Steve and Terri Reed

Lot #78 Five Fine Cabernet Sauvignons from 2003 and 2005

Whitehall Lane continues to receive accolades and awards for producing some of the greatest wines in the world. In Wine Spectator Magazine's year-end ranking of wines, Whitehall Lane has been honored an unprecedented three times in five years for producing wines rated among the top five in the world. The winery has also been voted Winery of the Year from the Quarterly Review of Wines and Wine and Spirits Magazine.

2003 The sexy, opulent Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve possesses plenty of glycerin along with powerful black currant fruit and a touch of toasty oak, all presented in an uncomplicated, consumer-friendly, exuberant, hedonistic style. Toast, nutmeg and cinnamon spice. Rich, dark berry fruit, fresh attack, rounded tannins. Intense dark fruits, extra long finish. Fully mature, it should be consumed over the next 5-6 years. Donated by Steve and Terri Reed.

2003 Whitehall Lane Estate Bottled Cabernet Sauvignon Polished and complex, this Cab, from Rutherford and St. Helena, shows ripe blackberry, red and black cherry, chocolate and blueberry flavors with rich oak seasoning. The wine is very dry and the tannins are soft but intricate.

2005 Caymus Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Aromas of sweet bing cherry and ripe, lush plum. The opulent sweetness of peak-season, fully ripe fruit brings about abundant yet soft tannins. The core of this wine is a silky and amiably rich, textured base, with a pure Napa Valley Cabernet focus.

Over the years we have found that one of the best methods for achieving a friendly character in the bottle is to blend wines possessing different attributes – combining top-quality fruit from several microclimates in our small yet diverse Valley. Using about 25% mountain fruit offers an opaqueness and structure that enriches the sweet fruit of the Valley floor. Such blending is an important part of Caymus Cabernet and its rich yet accessible character.

2005 produced a Cabernet Sauvignon of contemporary potential, saturated with dark color and big, ripe fruit.

2003 Del Dotto Cabernet Sauvignon Dark in color, silky with black berry, fig and nice oak notes. Caramel and mocha come later with just a hint of tobacco.

2003 Buehler Vineyards Estate Bottled Cabernet Sauvignon Rich with ripe dark fruit, oak and sweet cigarillo. Well balanced tannins and a short but good finish. Very much something a lover of Napa reds should indulge in!
Donated by Steve and Terri Reed

Lot #79 Three Fine Reds, 2 pinots and a lovely blend

2004 Montes Alpha M Chilean Red Wine Montes Alpha "M" is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon 5% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot which links all the other grapes. The Cabernet Franc enhances the elegance of the first variety, and is in total harmony with the softness of the second and austerity of the third. Elegant at the same time powerful with very good level of soft tannins, intense dark red color, the wine has structure, power and a very well defined character. The 5% of Petit Verdot is adding an extra element of complexity. There is a pleasant and harmonious marriage of fruit and the French oak with a delightful long finish. The structure of this wine will keep it for at least 20 years.

2012 Sojourn Pinot Noir Deep ruby color; lush, bright cherry aromas; rich, deep cherry flavors with cola and earthy notes; good structure and balance; long finish. Deep, bright Pinot with nice texture

2011 Black Kite Pinot Noir Stony TerraceThis powerful Pinot, from one of the three distinct blocks within Black Kite’s estate vineyard, offers earthy plum compote and blueberry with a lingering background note of vanilla. Bright, grippy and layered, the finish offers toasty oak.
Donated by Steve and Terri Reed

Lot #80 Three more Fine Reds

1999 David Franz Shiraz Benjamin’s Promise Wine spectator gave this wine a rating of 93.  Drink 2008 - 2020.

2003 Chateau Gloria St. Julien Red Bordeaux This charming, developed, medium bodied, soft, earthy, forest floor, kirsch and tobacco filled wine is ready for prime time drinking.

2003 Chateau Faugeres Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Red Table Wine

The 2003 is a veritable bomb of exuberance. The dress is splendid, bordeaux moiré of black. The nose is prodigal of aromas of toasty merrain, blackberry, fig, mango, accompanied and a minty touch. At the palate, it is a flood of warm, unctuous, tasty and persistent sensations, linked to very ripe grapes and woody and fine tannins. Young or old, this wine reserves a great moment.

Donated by Steve and Terri Reed
