Gallery Talk
with Nicole Poletika
Indiana's 1st Flag

In conjunction with the state's 200th birthday, the Indiana Historical Bureau has agreed to lend Indiana's 1st Flag to the Museum in recognition of its founding of ArtSmart: Indiana.  The flag will be displayed in the Weil Galleries, as part of A Bicentennial Legacy Exhibition:  ArtSmart: Indiana.

Nicole Poletika, the research and digital content editor at Indiana Historical Bureau, which houses the flag, will discuss its history, including why it was not recognized by Hoosiers for decades and how it symbolized home in wars abroad.  She will briefly discuss the life and artistic career of the flag's designer, Mooresville resident Paul Hadley.
