Alberta Barker wins the Crystal Bison Award for Volunteerism!

Congratulations to Alberta Barker

Alberta Barker was this years recipient of the Crystal Bison Award for Volunteerism.  She received the award at a ceremony on April 12, 2017. The event honors all those who make our local community stronger by donating their time to charitable and arts organizations.  Alberta has been recognized for demonstrating an outstanding commitment to our community. As part of the award, Bison has donated $1,500 to the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette on Alberta Barker's behalf.

Alberta has lived in the Lafayette area for over 45 years and has been volunteering for the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette for six years. She has held the titles of President, Vice President, Board of Directors, and is a chair member of the Executive and Development Committees. Despite her demanding job as Vice President and Trust Office of 1st Source Bank, Alberta has served for decades - almost always in leadership roles - for various other non-profit organizations in the community. In addition to the Art Museum, Alberta is also heavily involved with the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra Foundation as their President; the Estate Planning Council as their Treasurer; the Association of Women in Communications; the Ivy Tech Regional Development Committee; and she was recently appointed by Governor Eric Holcomb to the Indiana Arts Commission.
