The Art Museum of Greater Lafayette has just added a tour of the Frank Lloyd Wright Meyer May house to the itinerary for its Oct. 5-7 trip to ArtPrize, an international art competition in Grand Rapids, Mich.
The bus trip, in partnership with the Purdue Women's Club's Discovering Arts and Artists interest group, also includes two nights in the four-star Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, within walking distance to most of the ArtPrize entries.
"This is one of the major competitions in the Midwest and offers $500,000 in prizes, attracting artists from around the world," said Kendall Smith, executive director of the museum, and our visit is timed so that our group will know which ones have been chosen as the top 20 by the jurors and by public vote. We will be able to vote for the $200,000 Public Choice Award artist."
Besides lodging and transportation, tickets include a guided tram tour of the Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park. Double occupancy costs $369 for members or $389 for non-members. For more information and to make reservations visit http://www.artlafayett.org . The deadline for reservation is July 31.
