One of my favorite exhibits of the year, which features our communities budding new artists, is now open through April 23 at the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette.
The exhibits highlights 135 works by talented high school artists from eight area high schools. Twenty-two high school art teachers each selected ten works by their students to submit for the show, and a jury consisting of professional artists and art educators choose the works to exhibit.
The artwork was submitted in one of eight categories. “Best of Show” went to a sculpture "Persephone" by Rachel Goodman of McCutcheon High School. Cash prizes totaled $5,350.
This is the 37th consecutive year that the art museum has hosted this exhibit, which is organized by the Epsilon Chapter of Tri Kappa. The exhibit is sponsored by Old National Bank and will be displayed from March 10 through April 23.
