The Lafayette Art Museum has classes for all skill and experience levels. From the absolute beginner to the experienced artist, in two dimensions or three, you'll find a class for you below. Members receive discounts or other registration advantages in signing up for classes, so don't hestiate! Become a member today.

Absolutely Beginning Drawing

Drawing Magic - Fiber Art
July 23 – 27 Fiber ART!

Have fun using dye, wool and string to create  art.  Some are useful projects- felted soap anyone?  Some are wearable.  Some just look good on the wall.  The camp image was made with felt and yarn.  Wear your grungy clothes for this session.

Drawing Magic - Underwater Fantasy

Underwater Fantasy!
June 25-29

Children 1st - 6th grade

Come diving with us through the coral reefs. This session our focus will be on sea creatures, some real and some imaginary. Techniques to draw and paint water and reflections will be covered.

Pottery I Introduction to Clay for Adults

In Pottery I, students are taught the major pottery forming techniques and learn to create both functional and non-functional stoneware pieces using the potter’s wheel, slab roller, extruder, molds, and bare hands.

Pottery II Intermediate Pottery For Adults

Pottery II is an intermediate level class in which students will master more advanced wheel and handbuilding techniques. Students will learn efficient production techniques focusing on craftsmanship and design and will have the opportunity for independent work.

For All Levels  This class is for anyone who would like to venture into the wonderful world of watercolors.  Each class meeting has a different emphasis, such as composition, color theory, use of value and different painting techniques:  the topics are adjusted based on the needs of the class.
