This tour is an exclusive benefit for Second Century Club members, Art Museum and Foundation Boards Directors and their spouses/guests. Second Century Club members are Patrons who support the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette with annual membership donations of $1,000 or greater.
This is a 56-passenger motor coach one-day tour to Chicago, departing from the Tippecanoe County Amphitheater parking lot at 8:30 AM and returning at approximately 6:30 PM. Tickets are $50 per person, including transportation, tours and gratuities. Lunch is not included.

1. Mystery Tour: Visit a Collector’s Home for a Private Tour led by Gary Metzner, Senior Vice President of Sotheby’s and Fine Art Director for the Midwest.
“Come with the Second Century Club and enjoy outstanding 360 degree views of the city from this amazing triplex in the heart of Chicago’s Gold Coast. View a collection that spans close to 200 years of art. From 19th Century American Masters to Impressionist works by Jean Dufy and Edouard Vuillard to Icon Contemporary works by Hans Hofmann, Kenneth Noland and Kusama all set amongst an interior inspired by the Art Deco period, it will be a rare treat to begin our tour in exquisite surroundings. “
Gary joined Sotheby’s in 1997 after working as the Director of Fine Art for Leslie Hindman Auctioneers since 1993. Previously, he was Director of Hokin Kaufman Gallery in Chicago and Palm Beach. He is a generalist in paintings, prints and sculptures from Old Masters to Contemporary painting.
Mr. Metzner can be seen on Chubb’s Antique Roadshow on PBS and has appeared weekly on the Home and Garden Television programs “At the Auction” and “The Appraisal Fair” and participates in Heirloom Discovery Days across the country. As an auctioneer he has also conducted hundreds of charity auctions throughout the Midwest including “Cows on Parade” and the Banner auctions for the City of Chicago. A graduate of Indiana University with graduate studies in Art History at the University of Chicago,
Mr. Metzner is a recipient of the Plummer Scholarship in Fine Art and sits on the board of the AIDS Foundation of Chicago, Threewalls and River North Dance Chicago. He is a member of the Arts Club of Chicago and sat on the advisory panel for the Legacy of Absence Gallery at the new Holocaust Museum, Skokie, Illinois.
2. Noon- 2:00 Lunch on your own
Members will disembark their coach at Watertower Place with a list of restaurants. i.e., Cheesecake Factory, Ritz Carlton, The Drake, The Four Seasons, Reservations can be made for your group. Meet at 2:15 PM promptly at the John Hancock Foyer on Chestnut Street for security. We must enter the 31st floor together. No exceptions.
